FOS (Fructo-oligosaccharides) is a mixture of
oligosaccharides (GF2, GF3, GF4) which are composed
of fructose units connected by ß (2-1) links. These
molecules are terminated by a glucose unit. The total
number of fructose or glucose units (Degree of
Polymerisation or DP) of oligofructose ranges mainly
between 2 and 8.

II. Application
☆Prebiotic
A prebiotic is a non-digestible food ingredient that affects the host beneficially by selectively stimulating the growth and/or activity of bacteria in
the colon. In vitro tests have found that FOS are excellent and selective growth media and energy substrates for Bifidobacteria. These bacteria have been shown to inhibit the development of a number of harmful strains. The results of these studies have been confirmed in numerous clinical human studies.
☆More than a fibre
However, unlike most other dietary fibres, they are selectively fermented by the intestinal flora. This means that they not only promote optimal intestinal function, but that they also act as prebiotics.
Low calorie
It offers a 50% reduction in calories compared to sugar, has prebiotic benefits and also the ability to mask off flavors/off notes associated with high intensity sweeteners.
Low glycemic response
FOS are perfectly suitable for ingestion bydiabetics, since they do not influence the glycemia (blood sugar level).

Amorphous non-crystallising.
FOS is very soluble in water and more soluble than sucrose.
With its moderately sweet taste, FOS is a natural sugar replacer.

SHELF LIFE:
12 months if stored under recommended storage conditions
STORAGE CONDITIONS
Should be stored in airtight container in a cool and dry place below 40ºC and relative humidity less then 70%

Each packing unit must carry a label indicating the name of the product, the net weight, the name of the manufacture, the date of production, the batch code, expiry date or shelf life and storage condition.
