Sorbitol description:

Sorbitol alias sorbitol, English name Sorbitol, D-Glucitol, Sorbol, D-Sorbitol, hygroscopic powder or as a white crystalline
powder, flakes or granules, odorless, soluble in water (1g dissolved in about 0.45mL water), slightly soluble in ethanol and
acetic acid, with a refreshing sweet taste, sweetness about half of sucrose, and sucrose similar calorific value, used as a
sweetening agent does not cause dental caries, oral excess can cause diarrhea and digestive disorders.

Sorbitol Storage:

Application:
Sorbitol is the main photosynthetic product of Rosaceae plants and can be produced by reducing glucose. It is white hygroscopic powder or crystalline powder, flake or particle, odorless. It has a cool sweet taste. Its sweetness is about half of that of sucrose. Its calorific value is similar to that of sucrose. It will not cause dental caries when used as a sweetener. It is slowly absorbed and utilized in the body, and the blood sugar value does not increase.
Medical:
Sorbitol is also used in the manufacture of softgel capsules to store single doses of liquid medicines.
A treatment for hyperkalaemia (elevated blood potassium) uses sorbitol and the ion-exchange resin sodium polystyrene sulfonate.
Weight loss foods:
It is often used in diet foods (including diet drinks and ice cream), mints, cough syrup, and sugar-free gum. Most bacteria cannot use sorbitol for energy, but it can be slowly fermented in the mouth by Streptococcus mutans, a cavity-causing bacterium that, unlike many other sugar alcohols such as isomaltose and xylitol, is considered non-acidogenic.
